John Passantino Sr. of Wading River died March 11, 2012. He was 91.
Originally from Brooklyn, he lived in Floral Park and had a summer home in Wading River from 1948 to 1987, when he moved there full time.
Mr. Passantino was a World War II veteran and had worked for Regent Baby Products, an import/export company. His hobbies included fishing, carpentry and home repair. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and having family reunions.
Predeceased by his wife, Louise, Mr. Passantino is survived by his children: Ralph Sr., Joseph Michael, John Jr., Marie Donovan, Anthony, Louis, Josephine and Vincent; his brother, Michael; 19 grandchildren: Louise, Ralph Jr., David, John III, Jillian, Melissa, Melanie, Russell Jr., Andrew, Nicholas, Devan, Marc, Christopher, Meredith, Meaghan, Melanie, Michael, Angelina and Gina; and nine great-grandchildren: Jaclyn, Gregory Jr., Alyssa, Alessandra, Emma, Grace, Ralph III, Mathew and Justin.
Visiting hours took place March 13 and 14 at Alexander-Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River. A Mass was celebrated March 15 at St. John the Baptist R. C. Church in Wading River, followed by interment at Wading River Cemetery.
