Brenda A. Grodski

Brenda A. Grodski of Riverhead died May 18, 2013, at New York Presbyterian Hospital after a long illness. She was 62.

She was born Sept. 11, 1950, in Southampton, to William and Florence Talmage and graduated from East Hampton High School. Family members said she received a bachelor’s degree and later a lab technician certification and was employed by Southampton Hospital.

Ms. Grodski was married for over 30 years to John F. Grodski, and her family was a very important part of her life. Family members said she had a big heart and supported many charities, especially those that benefited veterans.

She also loved antiques and collecting salt and pepper shakers, as well as gardening and cooking, they said.

Ms. Grodski is survived by her husband, John, of Riverhead; a son, John Jr. (Becky) of Wading River; a daughter, Tara Bennett; her grandchildren, Bailey and Brian; and her brothers, Mark and Billy Talmage, and sister, Christine Talmage.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, May 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to a veterans organization of the donor’s choosing.
