Anthony T. Monidis

Anthony T. Monidis of Riverhead died July 3 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson. He was 88 years old.

He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in New York, N.Y., to Stamtios and Anna (Polychronakis) Monidis. He served in the U.S. Army as a technician fourth grade from 1943 to 1946. Most recently he was the owner and operator of Tag Motors in Medford.

Predeceased by his wife, Bessie (née Nikolaon) in 2007, Mr. Monidis is survived by two daughters, Annette Broderick of Port Jefferson and Elena Listermann-Vierling of California; a sister, Mary Shanley of Ridge; and two grandchildren.

The family received visitors July 7 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service was held July 8 at Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons in Southampton, Fr. Constantine Lazarakis officiating. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
