William C. Carpenter

William Charles Carpenter of Riverhead died April 28 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 44.

He was born Oct. 21, 1965, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Charles Carpenter and Linda Sirignano. He was raised in upstate New York, where he graduated from high school and attended college.

Mr. Carpenter served in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 to 1989, attaining the rank of senior airman.

He worked as a captain for Shelter Island’s North Ferry Company for eight years. He was a member of the Riverhead Moose Lodge and, according to his family, loved boating, fishing and his dogs.

Mr. Carpenter is survived by his parents; his partner, Pamela Cheek; his children, Anthony, Brittney White and Vanessa and Alexandra Cheek; his siblings, Cheryl Smith, Nancy and Bradford; and one grandchild.

The family received visitors May 1 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where funeral services were also held. Cremation was private.
