Reginald Davis

Former Riverhead resident Reginald (Korty) Davis of Henderson, N.C., died there July 26 at Maria Parham Hospital. He was 78.

He was born Nov. 6, 1931, to Jewel and Perry Davis in Southampton, where he was raised before moving to Riverhead.

On Aug. 23, 1952, he married Bertha Brackett in Riverhead. Mr. Davis worked for Grumman Aerospace before starting Davis’ Lawn Service, which he ran for over 20 years.

According to a family statement, Mr. Davis “loved working and providing for his family. There was nothing ‘too good’ for his wife, children and grandchildren.” He enjoyed watching baseball, particularly the New York Yankees, and, his family said, he enjoyed maintaining and keeping his cars very “neat.”

Predeceased by his daughter Terese, he is survived by his wife; children Dorice Brown and Jeffrey, both of Riverhead, Perry, of Wading River and Reginald Jr., of Youngsville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Family received visitors July 31, and funeral services followed at Galilee Church of God in Christ, Riverhead. Dr. Roy Pennon officiated. Interment was at Riverhead Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel, Riverhead.
