Dorothy A. Carusona

Dorothy A. Carusona of Calverton died April 2 at home after a brief illness. She was 91 years old.

She was born Nov. 18, 1921, in the Bronx to Catherine (Blaho) and Simon Auer. She attended Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and worked as a designer and seamstress.

She married Ralph Carusona in the Bronx on Sept. 18, 1941, and they settled in Babylon in 1953. She moved to Calverton after her husband died in 2003.

Family members said she enjoyed painting landscapes and was a great cook.

Ms. Carusona is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Lindstrom of Calverton and Christine Miller of Leland, N.C.; her sister, Maryann Parisi of Port Jefferson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors April 7 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass took place April 8 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead, followed by interment at L.I. National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
