Carmela Prete

Carmela “Chubby” Prete of Flanders died Sept. 19 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 81 years old.

Born in Manhattan July 29, 1932, she was a homemaker and child caregiver.

Ms. Prete was predeceased by her husband, George. She is survived by her children, George (Chrissy), of Flanders and Tami (Tim) Crump of Calverton; her brother Thomas Finnigan of California; her sister, Ann Cracchiolo of Pennsylvania; and her grandchildren, George, Joe, Nick and Carla. She was also predeceased by her brother Fred Finnigan.

A memorial service was held Sept. 21 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a funeral service also took place. Burial of cremains will be private.
