Nancy J. Miles

Nancy J. Miles of Riverhead died Oct. 27 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 70 years old.

She was born Aug. 11, 1943, in Cumberland, Va., to Mary and Alfred Lee Harris Sr. She was a member of Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead, and family members said she was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking and baby-sitting. Many people will remember her for opening her heart and lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it, they said.

Ms. Miles was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Edward Miles Sr., and her son Clarence Jr. She is survived by her son Tommy; her brothers Kenny and Willie Harris; her sisters, Nancy Harris and Frances Clinton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members. She was also predeceased by her brothers Robert Harris and Alfred Lee Harris Jr.

The family received visitors Nov. 4 at Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead, where a funeral service was conducted by Pastor Roy L. Pennon Sr. Interment was at Riverhead Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead.
