Cops: Riverhead man dies in Queens LIE crash
A 31-year-old Riverhead man died early this morning in an accident on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, according to the NYPD.
Andrew Ingordo, a 2000 Islip High School graduate, was driving on the westbound LIE near Little Neck Parkway about 4:50 a.m. when he struck the back of a flatbed truck that had swerved to the right shoulder to avoid cars ahead of it that had suddenly stopped, police said.
Mr. Ingordo, who was driving a Ford van, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Both vehicles remained at the scene and no other injuries were reported, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
