Southampton Blotter: Two arrested for heroin possession

Two individuals were arrested Friday evening for possession of heroin, according to Southampton Town police.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., Janayah Brown, 19, of Middle Island and passenger T.J. Moore, 24, of Mastic Beach were stopped by police on Schultz Road in Manorville for a vehicle and traffic violation. Both individuals were found in possession of heroin. They were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Mr. Moore was also charged with false personation, a misdemeanor, after giving police a fake name.

Both are expected to appear in Riverhead Justice Court Jan. 7.

• A Greenport man was arrested in Flanders Monday morning for driving while intoxicated, reports said.

Sean Magnuson, 47, was initially pulled over by police on Flanders Road around 4 a.m. for driving with a broken passenger side headlight, crossing a yellow line twice and failing to stay in the lane. Upon further investigation, police suspected Mr. Magnuson to be intoxicated after smelling alcohol on his breath. He performed poorly on a sobriety test and he then admitted to consuming two beers. He was charged with two counts of DWI and three traffic violations.

• Reginald Coleman, 31, of Riverhead was arrested Sunday for DWI, according to police.

At approximately 10:31 p.m., he was stopped on Flanders Road for a vehicle and traffic violation. Police found Mr. Coleman to be intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content of .16 percent. He was arrested, charged with DWI and released on an appearance ticket for Jan. 14 in Southampton Town Court.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
